Tikkis or Cutlets are always a good and best option to have as an evening snack or it can be served as an appetizer for party. Tikkis are versatile and can prepare various tikki like Aloo Tikki, vegetable tikki, Paneer Aloo tikki, Poha tikki etc. I love any kind of Tikkis and you can make chaat from this tikkis too.

Poha Tikki is perfect for kids snack, school lunchbox or as an appetizer too. There are different ways of making aloo Poha tikki, one is stuffing channa dal and the other is simply patty which is quick and easy to make. Tikkis can be deep fried, pan fried or shallow fried.

What is Poha Aloo Tikki?

Here is an innovative recipe of Aloo Tikki –Aloo Poha Tikki. I have used poha (flatten rice) and made the recipe more interesting and delicious. The potatoes are boiled and mashed, then mixed with spices and made into tikkis. The tikkis are then coated in poha(flatten rice) and shallow fried in oil.

This can be a great appetizer or snack. You can elevate this in chaat form too. I make this often for my kids lunchboxes too. For tea time snack, this is perfect.

What are the Ingredients for this?

  • Boiled Potatoes:
  • Soaked Poha
  • Green chili (optional)
  • Black Salt
  • Chaat masala
  • Amchur Powder
  • Chopped onions
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste

How to make Poha Aloo Tikki?

  1. Take 3 medium size of potatoes. Boil them in pressure cooker or in Instant Pot. Peel the potatoes and mash them. In a bowl soak 1 cup of poha.
  2. Add soaked poha into mashed potatoes. Add chopped onions, cilantro and spices like black salt, salt, chaat masala, red chili powder, chopped green chilies and amchur powder.
  3. Mix all the ingredients well and make a dough. Make small medium size of patty from this. Repeat the process and make all patties.
  4. You can refrigerate it for half and hour for batter result or you can just shallow fry immediately too.
  5. In a pan take some oil and once the oil heat up, shallow fry the tikkis until they turn golden brown.
  6. Serve this Tikkis with Green chutney and with sweet chutney
  7. You can serve this as a chaat too.

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp amchur powder

  • 1/4 cup chopped onions

  • 1/4 cup cilantro

  • 1 tsp red chili powder

  • 1 tsp amchur powder

  • 5 tbsp oil
