Khandvi is a mouth watering traditional Gujarati snack prepared with gram flour and buttermilk and seasoned with sautéed sesame seeds and few other spices. It’s not only easy to make but healthy as well because it just involves steaming gram flour and buttermilk and does not require any other complex cooking techniques.

I have always been a big fan of khandvi. These beautiful yellow rolls, which are soft and pillowy. How can one resist them! I always love the process of making Khandvi. And it’s seem difficult but it’s not it’s so easy to make and you can make it under 30 minutes.

Ingredients:
➡️ 1 cup of gram flour
➡️ 1 cup of yogurt
➡️ 1 cup of water
➡️ Ginger chili paste
➡️ Salt
➡️ Turmeric
➡️ For Tadka: oil, mustard seeds, asafetida
➡️ Cilantro
➡️ Sesame seeds
➡️ Shredded coconut
Method:
☑️ In a mixing bowl take 1 cup of gram flour and add 1 cup of yogurt. Add ginger chili paste, turmeric and salt.
☑️ Mix everything and make sure there’s no lumps in batter. Add 1 cup of water and make the batter little watery.
☑️ Turn on the heat and place a pan. Add the batter and stir continuously on medium slow flame.
☑️ Keep stirring and make sure there’s no lump. It will take 10 minutes to cook. You will see the change of color and the batter will be thicken.
☑️ When it’s completely done you can take little batter and check on plate if it’s rolled up easily your batter is completely cooked.
☑️ On a counter or take a big plate spread some oil and immediately pour the batter and spread the batter immediately.
☑️ Cut them into equal size with pizza cutter or knife. Gently roll them and put in a plate. Repeat the same process with rest of the rolls.
☑️ Prepare Tadka. Place all the Khandvi and garnish with cilantro, coconut. Pour the Tadka on Khandvi and serve this delicious healthy Gujarati snack with tea or any Gujarati Thali.
